Halloween 2010

Here is a tease of more photos on PicasaWeb. So, I chinced on Dylan's costume and bought it. Didn't think I would be able to pull off the red and webbing part of his costume. Sophia is "Rosetta" - one of the Tinkerbell fairies. She was set on Rosetta for a while, so I went on a limb and made the costume, starting in September. Took me two months to make. No pattern, just pictures from a book. I started with the shirt and skirt. Then was discouraged that I couldn't find any tights/ leggings the right color and shoes to match. Took a break. Got courage back and made leggings, lucked out and found shoes. Then was discouraged on wing construction. The materials I bought weren't working. Bought a pair. Was going to live with the ugly purple and green material, however, the $10 worth of material I purchased for the wings was nagging me, so I attempted the re-cloaking of the wing frames. I was very pleased with how that turned out. Then I was faced with the fact that it wouldn't be 70F/ 20C on Halloween eve. I had also bought some soft white furry material with swirls that looked like roses on it. This was sitting in a bag for about 1.5 months. As Oct.31 drew nearer, I decided to give it one last blast of effort and fashion a little blazer, again, sans pattern. Ran into one snag at the end - not enough lining for both sleeves and so they ended up without (the ONE part that really needed it for warmth). I wanted the coat to still show some of the top I designed, so I made the front cut away at the bottom. I am SO glad it fit AND was comfortable for her to wear. yay!
