Anxious for Valentines day

Sophia is already anxious for Valentines day. Earlier this week she was very busy with her coloring and cutting and taping. Then she put a little package under each of our pillows (yes, Dylan's too) and told me they were to stay there until valentines day. Then she went to bed and said she was sad because no one gave her anything. I tried to remind her it was still three weeks away and there was lots of time for others to make her something.

Dylan has become an avid photographer and grabbing our new camera whenever possible. Aside from when he drops the camera, it is pretty cute. He takes about 100 pictures a days some weeks. I love to looks at them and see what interests him. Here is album 2 of said photos.

Another day Another Snow Storm.

6-10. No, not a jail sentence, a shovelling sentence. Last shovelling effort was not so bad. Had about 6inches, however, it was the light fluffy stuff. This time is is heavy and wind packed. Yay. At least there are TWO of us to do the shovelling. Go productive exercise! Going to need some kind of conveyor belt system to get the snow over the banks that have formed. I think we should try to take a friends' idea and create a luge in the yard for the kids. Lemonade out of lemons.

Venti

No, not a Starbucks coffee, me venti about snow. Yes, I love the white stuff. I even enjoy shovelling. NOW AND THEN. everything in moderation. Two dumps in the past two weeks and I have been the sole snow removal machine. Ok, So Dylan helped. But helping for him is taking snow from my pile and dumping it back onto that nice clear surface with no snow. We had 15in of wet heavy snow last week while Ethan was in Minneapolis. Then it rained for a couple days and today it snowed at least 6 inches while Ethan was returning from the UK. Exercise is one thing, this is iron man shovelling.

And now I will vent about school closures. If you are a FB-er, you may want to skip this part as I have been venting there... a lot. The preschool that we PAY for has decided to follow the Quincy public school policy about school closings for snow. So far they have cancelled school THREE TIMES. All over a little snow. Ok, the first day was a blizzard/ nor'easter. You can have that one. The snow had stopped falling for over 12 hours and all the streets cleared and the QPS system decided to delay school openings for two hours. That meant our preschool felt they school cancel. Then today, Wimpachusetts schools all freaked out about some fluffy snow (yeah, about six inches, but still very drivable with the plows) and cancelled school again. So I have now paid for three days of school that were not attended because of school policy. Unlike the public schools, however, the preschool does not compensate us for missed days - do not extend the school year or reimburse. So irritated. Especially for that two hour delay cancellation day. Pah-lease.

And now for the cute. Dylan is always using height as an age reference. "when I am tall like you, then..." Today's was particularly cute. While talking to Ethan, he said "When I get tall like you, then I can juggle. Then I will be a dad." Then at storytime, I heard Sophia exclaim" Mom, Dylan is so adorable! He just read this entire book all by himself with my help!" I enjoyed her enthusiasm and the part where he did it all by himself with her help.

So here are some snowy pictures for ya...

2 fer 2

We went two for two these past couple days. Two days, two pee accidents. Dylan, however, takes the prize. Both accidents occurred in the bathroom on the potty and were both most likely resulting from waiting too long to get there. I sat Dylan down yesterday and was preparing myself to wait on the stool when I notice a sprinkle and looked up to a fountain spewing from the toilet. It shot a CLEAR 5 feet. I got caught in the cross fire and when he went to see what my shriek was about, Dylan bent his head down and got a sprinkling of his own. Today at tub, he informed/ reassured me "it was pointing down". Ahhh, one always appreciates a quick study.

even steven

Thanks to stupid insurance policy, Sophia's 5 year appointment was delayed by a month. ANYHOOOO, not that this irritates me at all, but we finally got it taken care of. Turns out all is good and she is 43.5lb and 43.25" tall. in the 70's all the way.

Pictures as promised

Here is a winter album taken mostly after Christmas.

Cute things snappled up by FB

Ok, I have been FB-ing my cute things in status updates and missing recording them here for posterity. Try to rattle some off here.

Dylan, how sweet are you? Grandpa handed Sophia and Dylan each a $5 dollar bill. After receiving his, Dylan ran downstairs to retrieve a $20 bill from his cash register and gave it to Grandpa as "yours to keep forever".

Girl power: Sophia and I quickly dropped into Home Depot one morning on the way to school to return a couple items. We held hands in the parking lot and Sophia announced we were having girl time. Then she said we should skip, so we skipped on into HD. How's that for oxymoron? Couple girls skipping into the man's world of construction goods?

After a mom and son morning out with Dylan sledding and building mini snowmen on the hill, we came home to make hot cocoa and SMASH-SHMELLOWS. Pictures to follow - a little lazy now to retrieve the camera and upload pictures, etc... guess I will have to post a whole album soon.
